Please join the Tennessee Women in Green (TWIG) for a digital monthly meeting in Zoom this Friday, April 2, 2021 at the usual morning hours of 7:45-9:00 AM. Our speaker will be Dorie Bolze, Executive Director and CEO of Harpeth Conservancy.
Dorie Bolze has served for 20 years as the first Executive Director and as the President and CEO of the Harpeth Conservancy since 2017. Harpeth Conservancy is a science-based conservation organization dedicated to ensuring clean water and healthy ecosystems for rivers in Tennessee by employing scientific expertise and collaborative relationships to develop, promote and support broad community stewardship and action.
Bolze has over 36 years of experience in the field of conservation policy and biology related to water quality, river restoration, sustainable development, wildlife conservation, energy efficiency, marine fisheries, protected area management, and international wildlife trade. Prior to moving to the greater Nashville area in 1999, Bolze’s conservation professional career was based out of New York City, at the National Audubon Society, Wildlife Conservation Society, Rainforest Alliance and in wildlife film production. Bolze earned her Masters of Environmental Management degree from the Yale School of Forestry and her B.S. in zoology from Duke University where she was an A.B. Duke Scholar and a Deborah Steer Scholar at the Duke Marine Laboratory.
Dorie Bolze will touch on highlights 20 years of success the Harpeth Conservancy has had from on-the-ground projects that have measurably improved water quality and restored the Harpeth to one of the few completely free-flowing rivers in Tennessee to regulatory and environmental policy efforts in stormwater, water withdrawal and sewer permitting that have set statewide approaches. The presentation will focus on how to successfully advocate in Tennessee and the urgent need for increased involvement in state and local public policy.
