Nashville Permaculture Action Day – November 11, 2019

Hello Earth Lovers,

Our friends with Deep Culture, Grow Enrichment, the Permaculture Action Network, and about a two dozen of local organizations, including Your Green Homestead,  are excited to invite you to the Nashville Permaculture Action Day on November 11, 2019 at GROW Enrichment located at Two Rivers Park, 3150 McGavock Pike in Donelson area of Nashville, TN. We have an exciting program planned for you! Please join our day of music, workshops, skillshares, and connecting with our community – FREE for all.

Please RSVP here if you plan to attend or want to volunteer and so we can have a good estimate of how many people to expect to have enough food.

On November 7, 2019, Charles White of Permaculture Action Network, Ginger-Rose Krueck of GROW Enrichment, and Caleb of LabCanna were interviewed live at 5:50 p.m. on the radio station Team Lightning Nashville, TN inviting listeners to tune in on the radio at 100.1 or follow on the internet in a parallel live stream on the Lightning100 website. Team Lightning DJ Casey discussed with Charles, Ginger-Rose, and Caleb the 5-year history of the Permaculture Action Network with almost 100 actions across the United States in partnership with musical artists and the Nashville’s third Permaculture Action Day on November 11, 2019 at the largest public food forest in the entire country at GROW Enrichment in Two Rivers Public Park. They mentioned a lot of the organizations that have been involved in putting this event together, such as sponsors and participants Deep Tropics (music and stage), Gardens of Babylon Landscapes (nurseries and gardening store), LabCanna (publicity), Harbin Hollow (syrups), Nectar Urban Cantina (food), Mountain Rose Herbs (herbs), Gaia Herbs (herbs), Twice Daily Thrive Program (fundraising for silvopasture trees), Rising Appalachia (Sunday show), Greenwood Nursery (plant growing), Nashville Foodscapes (edible landscape design),  Spiral Ridge Permaculture (farm), InfiniTea (lounge and teas), Tria Prima (Elixir Bar), New Earth Matters (speaking, gardens/composts), Ozard Permaculture (design), Tennessee Women In Green (networking), Souls United – Streetteamlegal (homeless support), Urban Ecovillage – East Nashville (drum circle), Hip Donelson (community), Nashville Parks Metro Department (city governance), Rock Bridge Trees (nursery, silvopasture trees for bees), Turnip Green Creative Reuse (upcycle craft), Tennessee Environmental Council (state governance), Middle TN Sierra Club (networking), Lightning100 (radio), Your Green Homestead (social media).

Earth Guardians

In order to minimize waste, we ask that you bring your own reusable cup, dish and eating utensils. We will have a sanitary wash station set up for everyone to handle their own clean up after eating.

We’ll also have recycling & composting stations setup around the site so please dispose properly. Thanks!

Parking Instructions

Here is a map to help you out with parking and finding your way into the site. In case you have been wondering, this is a rain or shine event. It looks to be a most beautiful day with temperatures cooling in the afternoon and a chance of rain so bring your rain gear and some warmer layers and we’ll continue to enjoy the day together. 🌞 🌧 ❤️

Parking Areas:

1. Two Rivers Dog Park (Let’s be mindful that this is a public park and people who are not coming for the action day may want to park here.)
2. Two Rivers Mansion (Please only park in the gravel lot. We’ve been asked that anyone who parks here plan to leave by 5:30.)
3. Two Rivers Middle (Please only park in paved areas.)
4. McGavock High School (This lot has by far the most places to park and is less than a mile walk away from the GROW site.)

There will be a Nashville Metro Parks officer parked at the entrance. You already know if you’re on the list to drive in gear for setting up or performing.
